Overview
Industrial systems need to measure and protect their own load, and that requires accurate current sensing and clean power for the measurement. Hawun supplies the current sensors and isolated power that these systems rely on, and BeiLuo supplies them as an authorized Hawun distributor with FAE support for sensing and protection design.
Current Sensing for Control and Protection
A current sensor measures the load for monitoring, control and protection, and its accuracy and response time set how well the system protects itself. In a protection application, the sensor must detect a fault quickly enough to trip before damage occurs, while in a monitoring application it must be accurate enough to report the load faithfully. A sensor such as the HW-RCS-AC-EV covers AC load monitoring and protection, and the choice of range and interface follows from the application.
Accuracy and Response
Accuracy and response time are the two parameters that matter most in current sensing. A sensor that is accurate but slow may miss a transient fault, and one that is fast but noisy may trip on noise. The sensor must be matched to the application's requirements, and the interface must present the signal in a form the controller can use.
Clean Power for Measurement
A measurement front end is affected by the noise on its supply, so the power for the sensing circuit must be clean. An isolated converter such as the HW-DC-DIP-3W-12S05 breaks ground loops that would otherwise inject noise into the measurement, and a precision supply such as the HW-PREC-50W-12 provides a low-noise rail for the analog front end. Together they keep the reading clean even in a noisy industrial environment.
Isolation and Ground Loops
Ground loops are a common source of measurement error in industrial systems, because the grounds of different parts of the system sit at slightly different potentials. Isolation separates them, which removes the loop and the error it causes. That is why isolated power is used so widely in measurement and in communication interfaces.
Integration
The sensor and its power must be integrated into the system carefully. Keep the sensor output away from the switching circuits, provide the isolated rail close to the front end, and validate the accuracy with the real load. BeiLuo's FAE team supports the integration and can measure the accuracy in our lab.
Why BeiLuo
We hold mainstream Hawun sensors, converters and supplies in regional stock and ship them with import, origin and RoHS documentation. Our engineers support sensor selection, isolated power design and protection review from concept through production, and we can supply samples for bench validation.
Validating the Sensing System
Before production, measure the sensor accuracy with the real load, validate the response time and the trip in the real safety chain, and confirm the immunity in the noisy environment. These tests decide whether the system detects a fault reliably, and they are far cheaper to run before the product is deployed than after.
Next Steps
Send your measurement, protection and accuracy requirements and we will propose a sensor and power set, confirm availability, and supply samples for validation.
